Waterproofs

Waterproof jackets must have fully taped, waterproof seams and hood.

We recommend jackets have a minimum of 10,000mm hydrostatic head and 10,000g/m2/24hr breathability rating – simplified as 10k/10k. The higher these numbers are, the more waterproof and breathable the garment is.

Fleece

Fleeces must be made from a synthetic fabric, have long sleeves and be 100gsm (grams per square meter) weight at a minimum.

 

Thermals and Gloves

The mandatory thermal items must be made of either a high performance synthetic material which are hydrophobic (ie they do not hold water) or they can be made of lightweight wool. Garments made mostly of synthetic materials such as Lycra or Coolmax are not acceptable.

 

Headlights

We suggest a minimum brightness for trail running of 300 lumens. Consider how long you will be running in the dark and choose a light that will go the distance and always carry spare batteries.

Safety

Compression bandages must be 7.5cm wide x 2.3m long un-stretched.
High Visibility Vest must complies with AS/NZS 4602:1999, AS/NZS 4602:2010 or AS/NZS 4602: 2011 and be Class D/N.

Hydration

For longer distance races, a carrying capacity of 2l is mandated. The total can be split between soft flasks and / or a bladder.
