Ahead of Black Friday and the Christmas silly season, we've put together a guide for what to buy a trail runner; that person who loves nothing more than disappearing into the bush for hours on end.

Lucky for you, trail runners love trail running, and, given a chance, will talk to anyone about their upcoming race, their favourite shoes or gear and their favourite running fuel (snack). And if they haven't dropped a hint already, you can use our handy list as a starting point.

So let's celebrate the trail runner in your life by giving them something they'll love this gifting season.

Stick With The Basics

Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with running socks. They're a classic gift for a reason. Sizing is bracketed, the colour options are endless, and the price point is low.

Other basics like massage balls and rollers are great too. They're long-lasting, practical and are good for pretty much every kind of runner. Especially for those who have had an injury or appreciate a bit of self-care.

SHOP RUN SOCKS

Accessories. But Make It Running.

We have a smorgasbord of trail running accessories available to suit every trail runner and every gift budget.

These are everyday items, revised and designed specifically to take to the trails.

Non-slip, non-bounce, polarised sunnies are a popular choice as a trail running gift and there are plenty of styles to choose from.

Trail running caps and hats made from technical fabrics are great for providing shade whilst also letting the heat and sweat out. Trail runners never seem to have enough caps, so you won't find it difficult finding one they'll love.

CAPS AND HATS

Give them what they need to run long

For the runner who trains long distances or runs through the heat, we always recommend they take safety gear, fluid for hydration and some sort of energy fuel with them. Trail running specific hydration packs and running belts are fantastic options for carrying everything your runner will need with comfort and ease.

Packs come in various capacities as well as sizes, belts too. We're here to help you find the right option if you're unsure whether a 5 litre or 12 litre vest is best, or if a running belt will do the job.

Packs are also great for run-commuting too.

RUNNING PACKS

Tell me you're a runner, without telling me you're a runner

Instead of rocking up to the Christmas party in their short shorts, choose them something from our selection of casual clothing for trail runners. Printed tees are a great way of showing what they love, even when they're playing barefoot bowls.

We don't recommend gifting shoes... here's why.

Shoes are a big ticket item and an essential part of any trail runner's kit. But unless you know your runner's favourite brand, preferred model and size, we'd steer clear. No-one feels good about having to return or exchange a gift.

So if you're not sure whether they like zero-drop or high stack, NNormal's or norda's, plated or plush, we'd suggest a Gift Voucher.

Gift vouchers are always the right size and can be used for getting the perfect fit, first time.

Bonus: Gift Vouchers

We know this is the second mention, but honestly, who doesn't love the gift of choice? Sure, it might seem a little, "you're tricky to buy for" at first, but it also says, "I know you love trail running" and trail runners love that too!

We stock physical gift cards in-store as well as e-mailable gift vouchers for online purchases.
