The 2017 Salomon S-Lab 8 set is a great pack for longer races which require you to carry mandatory gear. Think UTMB or a lightweight pack for the Ultra Trail Australia (see video below). To fit your gear in for these events, you should consider adding an Osprey 6ltr dry bag which will easily slip into the large back pocket.
In addition to the main pocket, storage includes:
- Space for 2 x 500mL speed soft flasks (included) for carrying liquid
- Two large, easily accessible front pockets for food and perhaps your phone
- Side zip pockets which fit a phone in a waterproof AlokSak
- A kangaroo pouch at the back to stuff in your Bonatti waterproof jacket
